Conor Jackson played at the University of California from 2001 to 2003 and hit .308/.370/.455 as the main DH for the USA in the 2002 World University Championship. He was a first-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2003 amateur draft. He moved up quickly through their farm system from 2003 to 2005, hitting over .300 with some power at every stop. In 2005, in the Pacific Coast League, he hit .354/.457/.553 in 93 games.

Jackson hit .200 in 40 games in the majors in 2005, but came on much more strongly in 2006, hitting .291 with 15 home runs. Teh next season, he hit the same number of homers, but his average dipped slightly to .284.

Jackson's father is an actor.
